Frequently Asked Questions
To have a seamless first appointment, please complete the intake form prior to your visit. This will allow us to help you check your insurance coverage and obtain your most recent radiographs from your previous dentist. Please also bring a list of medications if you are taking any medications.
We follow the ODA fee guide, which is an index of suggested fees for all dental procedures, and it is updated by the Ontario Dental Association annually. We do accept dental insurances. Most dental insurance companies reimburse based on the ODA fee guide.
A complete oral exam is not the same as a routine checkup. During your COE, a full set of x-rays and a 3D scan and your mouth will be taken. We will be checking for cavities, gum disease, intraoral/extraoral pathologies including oral cancer screening and review any medical conditions contributing to any oral diseases. Even if you don’t have any pain or concerns, it gives us a baseline data on the health of your mouth. A COE is recommended at a new dentist visit and every 3-5 years depending on your dental condition.
Do let us know if you have any dental anxiety or fear. Our staff and dentists are very understanding and accommodating. We will do our best to ensure that you have a comfortable experience. We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and also mild oral sedation if you are anxious about any procedures.
A good rule of thumb is to visit the dentist once every 6 months. However, everyone’s oral needs are different. Some people may benefit from visiting more frequently, and some may get away with once a year. It really depends on your oral hygiene, your risk for cavities and gum disease, medical conditions, and it may even change as we age and progress through life. It’s important to discuss your concerns and options with the dentist. They are in the best position to tell you how often you should have a check-up and whether they believe you should have check-ups more regularly.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends the assessment of infants, by a dentist, within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age. Regular dental visits are important to teach your child good dental care and to help prevent cavities and other problems. The exam also helps to identify and treat problems early and prevent them from becoming more serious.
